Some of the highlights about Mike & Megan

Father's Day Family Portrait

We've been happily married since March of 2004 and live in Topeka, Kansas in a quaint 3-bedroom home on the west side of town. We're in the process of updating the entire house, which has been quite a project. We've now completed the kitchen, master bedroom, Meredith's room and two bathrooms.

On February 21, 2007, our lives changed for the better when Meredith, our first child was born. She keeps us busy and is more fun than we know what to do with.

On July 9, 2009, we reached another milestone when Miles was born. He loves watching his big sister and bouncing in his rain forest bouncer.

How we met
The Kansas capitol will always have special meaning for us as that is what brought us together. Megan was a staffer for the House Democrats. Mike, a life-long Republican, was working as a lobbyist. It all started with a simple bet, and Megan thinks Mike was sandbagging as he bowled four straight strikes to win the bet.

How he proposed
Although they had talked about their plans for the future, Megan was very surprised when their Westie puppy Annabelle delivered her "belated birthday present." She didn't want anything to do with the soggy dog who had recently had a bath. After a little coaxing, she finally saw the ring and very romantically asked, "Are you for real?" as Mike was on a knee and had popped the question.

Current and Future Plans
Mike is in the middle of his fourth term in the Kansas legislature and is president of Spinnaker, LLC, a web development company.

More about Mike

Megan is working for Hills Pet Nutrition. She earned an MBA through Baker University.

More about Megan

Megan was really enthusiastic about the prospects of a honeymoon in Antarctica! (Actually Mike kept the honeymoon destination a secret from Megan, so the default answer to the question was Antarctica.)
