Up one levelMeredith's firsts as well as funny stories
Using a Fork and Spoon
Meredith is doing a great job of using a fork and spoon. Yesterday, she ate her entire meal using a spoon. Needless to say, it is quite entertaining.
New Words: Door and There
We have a Fisher Price door that she has loved to play with for the last 8 months. Tonight Megan got her to start saying door. Then she would open and close the door, but said it over and over again.
She also likes to have us read to her. She will come up to you carrying a book and say "up." When she does this be sure to act quickly or else the book is coming your way. One of her favorite books is "Big and Little." When you ask her where the big dog is, she will point to it and say "there."
Combining Words and Baby Signs
Meredith has already figured out if she acts cute almost always gets what she wants.
She has started combining words with signs and it is too cute. She'll say "up" and then sign "please." She also says "more" and then signs "please."
She does a number of signs including thank you as well.
Rebooting Computers and Powering On the Xbox
The little dickens has the amazing ability to hit button combos to do strange things to daddy's laptop. With one hand in less than a second she can power cycle the laptop. (And that is even with Daddy trying to defend it.) The moral of the story is to make sure you save files early and often.
She also can turn the Xbox on. Luckily she hasn't downloaded anything yet, but I'm sure we'll get a bill from Microsoft one of these days for something that she did.
Signing "Please"
We in conjunction with daycare have been working with Meredith to teach her baby sign language. She does a number of signs, but somewhat recently started doing please. You can definitely tell what she wants most of the time now. If she really wants something, she'll sign "please" and point to it and say the word if she knows it.
She also has a good grasp on saying "Momma" an "Dada" in context. She has already learned that if one of us isn't immediately getting her what she wants to try the other one.
New Words: Yum, Uh oh and down
She started saying "uh oh" yesterday. When Mommy dropped a toy, Meredith pointed and said "uh oh."
Today during lunch, she took a bite of food and said "yum."
Then, this afternoon she said "down" when she wanted down.
Meredith loves her shoes
At first, it was her lace up Nike shoes. Every time we put them in her room, she'd bring them right back out.
If she was barefoot or just in socks, she go get her running shoes and demand that we put them on.
Then, Megan got her some fur-lined Crocs a couple of sizes too big for this fall. Meredith would carry them around. Pretty soon, I removed the tags and gave them to her. She immediately wanted me to put them on her feet. Then, she got so she could do it.
It was pretty funny, as she looked like she was wearing clown shoes.
Then, Megan got her sandals. And of course, she had to wear those.
After a couple of weeks, she outgrew her original lace-up Nikes, so Megan found her new ones. They are blue-green, blue and white with a velcro fastener.
It is pretty funny though, she's at an age that most parents can't keep shoes on their kids, and she demands to wear hers.
New Word: Bubble
Today she said the word "bubble" for the first time.
Learning to Kick a Soccer Ball
Over Memorial Day weekend, we headed to Legends. At the Nike Outlet they had little soccer balls. So of course, we had to get one for Meredith.
She does pretty well throwing the ball. Now she can kick a ball as well.
