Outside of the Constitutional Court
The South African Constitutional Court built their courthouse on the site of a prison. Their goal was to have an open process. In the tribal days, justice was served out of the in open under a tree. The tribal leader would listen to both sides and adjudicate out in the open in front of everyone. Our tour guide, Justice Albie Sachs, is pointing over the hill at another prison, one of the places where Nelson Mandela and others served as political prisoners.
